About Us

Leah Bartfeld Clague

Leah Barteld Clague joined the McLaughlin Law Group in August 2012 and is honored to be working with her long time mentor.

Leah graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, School of Law in May 2012. Prior to law school, Leah completed her M.B.A. with highest honors from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and graduated summa cum laude from York College in York, PA with a B.S. in Business and Finance. Leah worked as a financial analyst in both the private and public sector prior to starting law school.

During law school, Leah interned with the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland, the Cecil County State’s Attorney Office, and with the Maryland Office of Attorney General. While with the Attorney General’s office, Leah focused on Estates & Trusts work, researching questions from practitioners, judges and Registers of Wills regarding interpretation of Maryland law, ongoing litigation, and estate administration.

In addition to estate planning, Leah has a passion for working with small businesses. As a student, she helped grow a program called “The York Business Academy” that provided brief classes on marketing, management, financing, and legal issues for small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. More recently, she consulted for a number of for-profit and non-profit clients and developed business plans, financial models, and marketing strategies that were presented to venture capitalists.

Leah is a published contributor to the Maryland State Bar Association’s Business Law Section’s blog, and has a forthcoming piece, “Cross-Border Bankruptcy and the Cooperative Solution,” the International Law and Management Review Brigham Young University.

In her spare time, Leah can usually be found in the kitchen, whipping up a batch of her signature homemade cupcakes. Leah and her husband recently bought a house in Harford County and look forward to getting involved in the community and tackling some DIY projects.
